Bullying is lethal. Why do I say this? Throughout the years bullying has caused a lot of harm in the world. This problem has been going on for many years but people didn’t pay attention to it until just a couple of years ago. Bullying and harassment go hand by hand because they both have the potential to ruin someone’s life. But, what is bullying? Well according to the Cambridge dictionary it is the behavior of a person  who hurts  or frightens someone smaller or less powerful, often forcing that person to do something they do not want to do. Many would think that bullying is the same as peer pressure, which is valid but not true. Peer pressure is not bullying because peer pressure doesn’t have to be to a person which is less powerful or smaller than the rest of the people. Bullying can be found in many places, but the main building were bullying takes place is the school building. Schools are the mayor provider of bullying in the world. Bullies take advantage that parents aren’t around in school and they harass and bully the smaller less powerful student. Often times even younger ones by taking their lunch money and their food. Small kids are afraid and feel useless when a 6.5 ft 190 lb senior all-star basketball player approaches them demanding them to give his all of his money. But why does bullying affect children’s lives permanently? Well, according to stopbullying.gov kids that are bullied are more likely to experience depression, anxiety, negative physical, school and mental issues. Many times the issues that a kid faces because of bullying are permanent. Adults that were bullied when they were kids still face those same issues from 20 or 30 years ago. The levels of anxiety and depression that 5th graders face today because of bullying are much worse than those 5th graders from 20 years ago. Yes, nowadays bullying is being much more controlled but even then bullying is going on. Millions of children across the globe are being harassed and in some cases resulting in death. Kids today don’t think about the consequences of their actions, that’s why these bullying cases have such disastrous ending. With technology being such a huge part in our lives today and even bigger in the lives of kids and teenagers, cyberbullying has evolved in such way that they have reported millions of cases for cyberbullying across the world. It is easy for kids to create a username in social media and start attacking people with their mean comments online even though it a 9 year old writing all of those mean comments. These mean comments can have the same effects on kids even if it is not in person. We have talked about the kids that are being bullied, but what about the bullies themselves. According to the research department at TCU, more than 46% of bullies have some sort of problem a home. What does this mean? It means that the bullies are taking advantage of other kids because they are taking advantage of them in the first place. So it has to be considered that kids nowadays are having problems at home and that why they are behaving they way they are behaving. It all fun and games until there is bigger problems involved. Problems that even teachers and students can’t control.
